Bowling with friends

Bryce and I met some YUM's (Young Urban Mom's) and YUK's (Young Urban Kid's) for some bowling fun!! We had a great time!

Bryce had to have a jaw breaker, it made his mouth blue and he ended up with a blue mustache!!

Halloween

We went to a pumpkin patch and took a hay ride.

We went to the library for Halloween story time with Nichole and Wesley. Bryce "read" a story to Wesley.

Bryce was a Blue Power Ranger this year!

Famous

On the way home from school, Bryce asked me (out of nowhere), "Where does Miley Cyrus live?".
I said, "I don't know but maybe she lives in California because that is where alot of famous people live."
"What is famous?"
"Famous is when a lot of people know your name?"
"A lot of people know my name, like Jacob, Miss Sue, Matthew, Elston, ...." As he lists all the kids in his class.
I told him he must be famous then!

Interesting Question...

Bryce and I were on our way to see a friend of mine, Angela, that just gave birth to a BEAUTIFUL baby boy.
On the way to her house, Bryce asks, "How did the baby get out?". I was hoping he wasn't asking what I thought he was asking so I clarified, "How did the baby get out of where?".
"How did the baby get out of the mom?"
"Ummmm" is the best I can come up with at first. "Well, the doctor has to help."
This is not enough for the information sponge riding in the back seat. "but, how does it get out?"
"Well, I don't know how to explain it."
I was hoping this would be enough but Bryce is smart. "But, mom, how did I get out of you?"
"Wellllllll, ummmmm, the doctor helped and I don't know how to explain it any better."
I am pretty sure he thinks I don't even know!

Walking to Target

I am trying to make a conscience effort to get outside right now while the weather is gorgeous, before it gets nasty and cold, so I bribed Bryce into walking with me to Target (only like 2 blocks). It was so nice to walk at a 4 year old's pace and to have random conversations with him. I told him that I would give him $5 to spend at Target if he walked there with me. He bought 5 packs of trading cards, like baseball cards but they were Star Wars and Spiderman themed cards. The walk home was twice as long because he had to walk and look at some of the cards at the same time. It was a great time!

Chicago September 2008

Abby and I made the trek to Chicago last weekend to see Eric and celebrate his birthday! We had a good time. On Friday, Abby got to see Wrigley Field for the first time and we had a beer at Cubby Bear. That night we ate authentic Chicago deep dish pizza with friends of Abby. On Saturday we took the "L" downtown and did some shopping. We ate fabulous food at Penny's and Twist. We went to a street festival that was outside a catholic church, there's nothing like buying beer in the basement of a church while listening to an 80's cover band singing "Like a virgin"! We had a great time and it was fun to hang out with some family for a weekend away.

Beaverdale Fall Festival Parade 2008

Bryce and I attended the Beaverdale parade this year along with some other YUM families. It was a gorgeous day, the company was great and we took home WAY TOO MUCH candy!!

Side note: My favorite entry in the parade had to be the actual company called, Beaver Mower!

One serious picture of Bryce and one where he was making a "funny" face!

Singing

Bryce likes to sing along with the radio when we are driving in the car, or anywhere for that matter. He really likes the Kid Rock remake of Sweet Home Alabama. The funny part is that when he sings along he misunderstands the words and just sticks in what he thinks. We were just watching TV and Bryce saw a commercial for transformers. The transformers theme song goes, "Transformer, more than meets the eye", his interpretation is "Transformers, more to beats my hind" or something like that! It can be something different every time!

God and McDonalds

So, Bryce has been asking a lot of questions about God and Jesus. A couple of weeks ago, Bryce asked Chuy what God does, and Chuy told him that God makes things. "How does God make things?" "Well, he says something and then it is made."

A couple of days later, Bryce and I were driving to Story City and we discussed stopping at McDonalds in Story City to get a bite to eat. He was sitting in the back seat and he held up a golf tee. "So, God said golf tee and this tee was made?" I thought briefly about how much I really wanted to explain and decided I would take the easy way out, "Yup", I said. He sat there for about 10 more minutes and then he asks, "So, God said McDonalds, McDonalds, McDonalds, McDonalds, and all the McDonalds were made?"

After I stopped laughing, I went back to the golf tee and explained that God made the tree, people made the golf tee. You never know what will come out next...

Sunday School

Sunday, September 14th, Bryce went to Sunday School for the first time. He has been asking a lot of questions about God and Jesus so I thought it would be a good idea for him to learn more, and not just my version. He clung to me and didn't want me to leave him in the classroom but I handed him off to the teacher. When I went back after mass, I had to drag him out of the classroom and he said he wanted to do that every Sunday. We'll see, I am hoping he continues to like it!

Fishing in Illinois

This is from our latest trip to Illinois. Uncle Bubba took Bryce fishing and they both had a great time!

Getting started

I was thinking that a blog would be a good way to keep family and friends posted on what is going on with Bryce (mostly) and myself. We'll see how this works...!
